The Intro to NASDA Workshop will consist of Presentation/Lecture and Paws On Work (for working spot
teams)
3 Hour Workshop – 8am-11 am
Presentation/Lecture:
• NASDA Classes, Levels, Points, Titles
• Allowed Equipment
• Class and Level Specifics, Rules & Regulations
• Introduction to NASDA ‘handling’
Paws On:
• Dogs and Handlers will be introduced to the 4 NASDA Events at the introductory level
• Trailing and Locating
• Urban Locating
• Shed Dog
• Lost Item Recovery
Handlers may work different dogs, but may not work more than one dog in each event (T&L, UL, SD, LI) per
workshop without an additional entry.
The Advanced Handling Workshop will consist of Presentation/Lecture and Paws On Work (for working
spot teams). Focus will be on preparing teams for Level III work in all Events (TL, UL, SD, LI).
4 Hour Workshop – 1pm-5pm

*Odor Theory *K9 Searching/Hunting Techniques *Reading K9 Body Language
*Long Line Skills *Evaluating Search Areas *Support vs Interference
*Body Language Cues *Verbal Support *Distraction Challenges *Discrimination
*Unknown Hides *Elevated/Inaccessible Hides *Environmental Challenges
Paws On:
*Handlers will practice evaluating dog body language and dog search techniques
*Handlers will practice long line skills
*Handlers will practice evaluating search areas
*Handlers will practice reading dog body language & supporting their dog in search areas with unknown hides
*Dogs will be introduced to staying on target around distractions
*Dogs will be introduced to Discrimination exercises
*Dogs will be introduced to environmental challenges and inaccessible/elevated hides
*Dogs will be introduced to finding multiple sources in a search area
Handlers may work different dogs, but may not work more than one dog in each Paws On Topic per workshop
without an additional entry.
