Last weekend HTC hosted a NASDA Judge's Workshop at IOC in Smithfield, VA. Elizabeth Tuckson and I continued working on our judge's requirements with the fabulous Jessica Clough. We learned a lot about the intricacies of the rules, handling tips, and how to set up courses at various levels. Jessica was very helpful and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed learning with her. This is a great location and we hope to host more trials there.
We are hosting a Happy Ratters Trial on Friday and Saturday, October 11 & 12, at Freak on a Leash in Chesapeake, VA. This location is wonderful - everything you need, including bathrooms, is in one building. We have a nice flow at this location that keeps the trial moving smoothly and keeps the dogs from surprising one another. Brandie Hudecek and I will be judging. The premium is available for download here, and we are not charging fees for late entries!
Next up, we are hosting a NASDA event at Not Quite Right Farm in Pittsboro November 22-24. You can view details and register on Secreterrier here. We'll be holding three trials each day of all four events - Lost Item, Shed Dog, Urban Locating, and Trailing and Locating. Beckie Bowers will be judging and this is sure to be a fun weekend! Mark your calendars for the following weekend for more NASDA fun here at HTC. The trial is pending approval and we hope to have entries open soon.
We'll be closing out 2024 with Fast CAT at HTC, featuring Danny Terry from Salty Dog Coursing as our lure operator. Entries are open on Secreterrier here, but please note there is a glitch - instead of showing Friday-Sunday, it shows Thursday-Saturday. Do not enter for Thursday, it is a mistake. Please submit your entries for Friday and Saturday and contact me at htcdogsports@gmail.com for Sunday entries.
Also in the works - AKC Fetch Trials! We're hoping to hold Fetch trials in conjunction with some of our other events as this new sport is growing fast.
